 2007 Suisun Valley Petite Sirah

The Vineyard: The Winterhawk Petite Sirah is grown in Northern California’s Suisun Valley. Located just 12 miles East of the city of Napa, Suisun Valley has been quietly producing world class wines for over 25 years. This fruit comes from the hotter northern portion of the valley near Gordon Valley Rd.. Intense sunshine and low crop levels produced an exceptionally dark and intense berry that highlights this regions ability to produce world class Petite Sirah.

The Blend: 91% Petite Sirah, 4% Malbec, 4% Merlot

Winemaker: Matt Smith

Winemaking: All of our fruit is hand picked and hand sorted at the winery before crushing to ensure the purest expression of the grapes character. The Petite Sirah must is cold soaked before fermentation for three to four days to extract color and flavor without any harsh or dry tannins. Hand punched down four times a day, this wine shows amazing extraction and richness.
